Dear Sri Bharath,

Kindly go thro' adiyen's postings 'Preserving the Tradition' during the past few weeks. Not only the Divya Desams but very many Abimana Stalams like Uthiramerur which is one of the three Temples with Ashtanga Vimana ( Three tier Garbha Griha - one Moolavar in Ground level and four more Moolavars in the second and the third tiers) four vimanas each in the second and the third tiers - a truly magnificent Stalam built thirteen centuries ago - need renovation very badly.

Under the Directions of H.H.Srimad Andavan much work has been done but much remains to be done. The Bhattachar Swami is very old but very devoted and needs financial support and the temple itself needs regular support and there are many such temples.

Getting the temples out of the control of the Govt. is not a practical step and is a long range probablity. That temple needs the massive support of the SriVaishnavaites NOW.

The hereditary Trustee is Sri Seshadri - tel.no. 04112 72363 and there is a renavation committee with the donations approved by the Govt. of India for exemptions u/s 80-G of the I.T.Act.I can coordinate the contributions. One Bhagavatha, on a condition of very strict anonymity, contributes Rs.8000/- every month to be paid @ Rs.2000/- each to four Vedic Scholars who come there EVERY DAY and recite Veda for 1/2 hours. This is being routed thro' me every month.Once upon a time there were hundreds of scholars reciting Vedas every day at this temple when it was in its pristine glory!!

Interested persons may contact me for further action.May i state with utmost humility that i am more interested in contributions from one and all and less impressed by messages of congratulations for the quality(!!?!!)of my views in these postings ?

Regards.

SriRangam Srimad Andavan Thiruvadi.

Srimate Ramanujaya Namaha.

Hello,

background

I am a Sri Vaishnavaite based in Bangalore in the construction business , age 31 ,
background - engineering, married .
I am interested in knowing more about my tradition , thats why I have joined the group. I perform a simple sandhya and thiruvaradhanam almost every day , but still have much more to learn .I am not well versed in the intricacies of the vedanta ,
but I am concerned about our temples , our culture , our people ,our maths ,
and their future, in the face of 1. rapid emigration . 2. westernisation even of the local vaishnavas .

posting to bhakti list -

I am deeply concerned about the future of most of our ancient Sri Vaishnavaite shrines in interior areas including most divyadesams . They dont have money , are short of priests , and their lands are mismanaged by the govt .
I feel that prominent and well off srivaishnavaites should take some initiative to move the courts to remove the temples from govt control and put them under a independent trust and Temples like TTD using their surplus funds should ensure minimum functioning of all the poor temples . It appears to me that many of the Maths instead of collecting and using funds for making new jewellry and buildings for already prosperous temple deities should divert their attention and resources towards the goal of making all ancient Srivaishnavaite Temples self reliant with minimum priests , ritual , and maintenance.

discussion ?

Bharath Asuri.
