Dear Mr.Prabhu Srinivas and Sri. Chaithanya Balasubramaniam,

While the reply of Mr.Prabhu is not inappropriate, it does to serve
to be a conclusive explanation of the bhagavaan krishnar's desicion
to be the sarathy (charioteer) of partha (arjuna).

Arujuna and Krishna are the re-incarnations of Nara-Naarayana, the
sages. Here Naarayana, the sage is not the be confused with Sriman
Naarayana, the Para-brahman. Naarayana is an avatara (re-incarnation)
of Sriman Naarayana.

Prior(much before) to the Kurukshetra Yuddham (Mahabharatha war),
Naarayana performs upadesham to Nara. This continues in the yugas,
where Naarayana (Krishna or Sarathy) performs Giitopadesham to Nara
(Arjuna or Partha).

An Analogy:
Jaya and Vijaya as a result of a curse by the Sanath Kumaras, come
down to earth as

Hiryanakshan and Hiranyakashipu.
Sriman Naarayana destroys them in Varaha and Narasimha Avatarams.

The same jaya and vijaya come down again as;
Ravana and Kumbha-karna
Sriman Naarayana destroys them as Chakravarthi Thirumagan (Ram)

Again as
Kamsa and Shishupala
here Parthasarathy(Krishnar) destroys them

Hope this helps to get an understanding of the leelais of Sriman
Naarayana.

Regards,

Malolan Cadambi
