Subject: Aazhvaars and dasaavathaaram

Varadhan enquired:

hi,
I have a question about alwars and the dasaaavataarams .
Most of the paasurams that I am familiar with are not about(or do not mention)
any
particular avataaram. However , many of Aandaal's paasurams are about krishna
.Periyaazhvaar , in his periyaazhvaar thirumozhi has a lot of paasurams about
krishna (eg : poochoottal and kaappidal ). I know of a few paasurams in which
raamavataaram is there. What about others? Nothing comes to mind immediately. I
---------------------------

Among the 10 prominent avathaarams the most often mentioned
are Rama, Krishna, Vamana, and Nrisimha avathaarams.
    Here are three from thiruppallaaNdu:

       raamaa: ilangai paazhaaLaaga padaiporuthaan
       krishna: iNdaikkulaththai edutththuk kaLaindha irudeekEsan
nrusimha: andhiyam pOthil ariyuruvaagi ariyaiyai azhiththavan

There are many beautiful refernces to Vaamana avathaaram. Here
    are two from thiruppaavai:

        Ongi ulagaLandha uththaman (thiruppaavai)
        anRiv vulagamaLandhaay (thiruppaavai)

ANdaaL mentions Balaraaman in thiruppaavai with,

        sempoR kazhaladi selvaa baladhEvaa
        umbiyum neeyum uRangElOr empaavaay.

Thirumangai aazhvaar's siRiya thirumadal is a treat
to the ears and heart with:

        aaraal ivvaiyam aLappuNdathu - vaamana
        aaraal ilangai podipodiyaanadhu - raamaa
        aaraal kanmaari kaaththathu - KaNNan
        aazhineer aaraal kadaindhidappattathu - varaaha
        ponpeyarOn aagaththai kooraarththa
           vaLLugiraal keeNdu - nrusimha

Look at periya thirumozhi 11.4.1 - 11.4.10 of thirumangai
     aazhvaar for:

... varu meenai maalai maRavaathu iRancen manamE (maccha)

                   theRRal vinai paRRaRukkum vithiyE (KaNNan)

That leaves Kalki. I could not find one for Kalki
quickly. I shall look for one. If someone else
finds one for Kalki please post.
