Dear Bhagavatas;
Here is an excerpt on the topic from my book "Oh! My God".

HARIVAMSA
( 46 ) In HARIVAMSA (3.31.48) it is explained why SRI NARAYANA is called
KESAVA.
SIVA addresses Sri Narayana and says "Brahma's name is 'KAH' and I am known
as 'ISA', as I rule over all embodied beings. Both of us were born from your
limbs. Therefore, you are called KESAVA"

Kah iti brahmano nama isoham sarva dehinam
Avam tava ange sambuthou tasmat Kesava namavan.
