thoo nilA muRRam - part 29 - vimAna thrayam

Dear bAgawathAs,

Several kalpAs ago, Lord Suryan, and Lord Sri Brahma did a
severe penance seeking Lord Sriman nArAyaNA's blessings. Our Lord
Sriman nArAyanA was very pleased with their sincere "thapas" and
appeared in front of them and asked for their wishes. Both of them
wanted a "kOil" for Sriman nArAyaNa such that they can worship HIM
all the time. Lord immediately created a vimAnam that became three
vimAnams and took two other different forms and entered into two
of them. The three great vimAnams are Sri VaikuNda vimAnam, Sri
praNavAkAra vimAnam, and Sri Vaideeka vimAnam. Lord assumed the Sri
VaikuNda vimAnam as HIS own and placed it in Srivaikundam. HE gave
the praNavAkAra vimAnam to Sri BrahmA and the Sri Vaideeka vimAnam
to Sri Sooryan with the respective thiru uruvams in it. They both
were immensely happy and took their Lords and the vimAnams to their
respective lOkams. Sri Sooryan had the Sri Vaideeka vimAnam and
was worshipping it constantly.

It is not known what is the reason for certain things
to occur in certain places. It so happened that Sri Sooryan did a
severe penance in this boomi of thiru kudanthai and earned the name
as Sri bAskara kshEthram. Our Lord with the Sri Vaitheeka vimAnam
has come to stay here for ever as similar to how HE was in Sri
Soorya lOkam (Sri bAskara Lokam then, and Sri bAskara kshEthram
now) earlier.

After several years Sri Vavaisvatha manu inherited the Sri
Vaideeka vimAnam and the Lord in it from his father Sri Sooryan.
He had this vimAnam and the temple on the banks of the holy river,
Sri sarayu. He worhsipped this Sri Vaideeka vimAnam and the Lord
for 1000 years there. After Sri Manu his son Sri ikshuvAku
inherited this vimAnam and the Lord. Sri ikshuvAku heared the
vaibavam of the Sri Vaideeka vimAnam and learned about the other
vimAnam namely Sri praNavAkAra vimAnam also. He was very much
desirous of doing ArAdhanam for Sri Vaideeka vimAnam and Sri praNa
vAkAra vimAnam together. He did a severe penance and sought Sri
BrahmA's blessings. Sri BrahmA also appeared in front of him and
blessed him with the possession of his Sri praNavAkAra vimAnam.
Thus the praNavAkAra vimAnam descended with Sri RanganAthan from
Sri Sathya lOkam. It is important to note that Sri Vaideeka
vimAnam and our Lord Sri ArA amuthan came to this boolOgam to
bless all prior to Sri RanganAtha and Sri praNavAkAra vimAnam.
However, When Sri ikshuvAku placed the Sri praNavAkAra vimAnam
next to Sri Vaideeka vimAnam, they both suddenly merged into one
and appeared as Sri praNavAkAra vimAnam itself. Sri IkshuvAku
worshipped this with many special ArAdhaNAs for several years.
Many of his heirs who were part of the Soorya vamsam, such as
Sri Dileepan, his grand son Sri Dasarathan and later Sri Rama
worshipped this twin vimAnam and perumAL(s). So it is to be noted
that Sri ArA amuthan who was residing inside Sri RanganAtha was
also worshipped by Sri Rama. ie., When one worships Lord Sri
RanganAthan with Sri ArA amuthan inside, it must be understood
that Sri ArA amuthan was also worshipped as both the Lords were
unseparated twins then.
