Post 30

Dear Sri vaishnava perunthagaiyeer,

Before I go into next srimadh bhagavatham slokam, I will present the
points, which I wanted to share on the naaraayaNa theerthar krithi
[krithi & meaning covered in previous post - post 28, 29].
1.	dheena paripaalanaaya sveekuru dheekshaam - dhEva - first this
appears a simple request- you please make a vow or vratham or dheekshaa-
that you will protect simpletons like us - "dheenaa:".
2.	Once that lord krishna accepts this, he can not go back on his words
saying "No, I can not grant this request of you or that one". For he is
sathya santhan - on a word given, he will act according to it, whatever
be its repercussions. So, though this request appears a simple one, there
is a very big "selfish motive" behind to force the lord.
3.	We have come to you to surrender ourselves - [thava] charaNam aagama -
so he has to accept this surrender- for he has declared "Ethath vratham
mama" in his previous avathaaram as raama. In the anupallavi a request is
made. In charaNam real surrender - which He has to accept.
4.	Once accepted what is the result is also given very beautifully.
Unbroken bliss- aanandham akanditham. This is the speciality here. 5.	The
saraNaagathy saasthram of srivaishNavaas is given step by step- -	first
- accepting the lord as the chief of all - dhEva guru sikshaam - oh lord,
you are the first and foremost of all- moola purusha.
-	Next - expressing we are helpless- dheenaa:
-	Third - we have under your refuge - openly expressing the desire to
take refuge
-	Fourth- expression of the result on such a surrender- is bliss
unlimited - unbroken and endless.
6.	The sentence "gouka parisOshaNa yOgi mathi bhooshaNa" is also very
special to krishna.
Periyaazhvaar says in his 2-4-9 verse
pooNith thozhuvinil pukkup puzhuthi aLaintha pon mEni kaaNap
peridhum ugakkum

"In the cow-shed all cows and calves would have been tied
down with ropes etc. in that place. If you, krishna, go and play there,
naturally the dust of cow-dung and all dust there would cover your golden
coloured body. I like to see you that way --- says mother yasOdhaa, but
that nappinaai if she sees you with all dust she will laugh.

	In 2-7-1 same periyaazhvaar says
aanirai mEikka nee pOi aru marunthu aavadhu aRiyaai
kaanagam ellaam thirinthu un kariya thirumEni vaada

hey krishNa, you go to the forest grazing the cows in herds,
not one or two, and become a rare medicine for them, perhaps you do not
know that. By such going into forest your body which is already dark
becomes pale and covered with all that dust raised by these cows.

Also aaNdaal says in her naachchiyaar thirumozhi
		KaRRinam mEikkilum mEikkap peRRaan
		Kaaduvaazh saathiyum aagap peRRaan

He became a forest in-dweller by going for grazing the
cowherds. So naturally dust covered- gouka parisOshaNa.

As already said above and in previous post, when one is
playing in cow shed or going behind cows in a forest naturally get coated
with cow dust- gouka parisOshaNa.

But that "gouka parisOshaNa thirumEni" is the "yOgi mathi
bhooshNam"- crest jewel in the mind of yOgees. - this aaniRai mEikkum aru
marunthu- medicine- is aru marunthu oru thani marunthu ambalaththu aadum
marunthu - that medicine playing in the minds of the yOgees- so naturally
mathi bhooshaNam- crest jewel.

Further the last stage in yOga saasthram is attaining the
brahmam in the sahasraaram between the eyebrows - this in yOga saMaadhi
is nothing but realising that lord supreme- the krishNa - that crest
jewel.

7.	jaathi kula charaNam asEsha janthu DhaaraNam
gnaatham Bhavathaa krutham ithi aagama viDhitham - dhEva

in bhagavath geetha lord krishna in 9.29 says
samO~ham sarva BhoothEshu na mE dhvEshyO~sthi na!
yE Bhajanthi thu maam Bhakthyaa mayi thE thEshu chaapyaham!!
I am neutral to all beings. I do have neither enemies nor
friends. One who does worship me they are in me I am with them. So the
krithi lines are a very good reflection of this slokam- asEsha janthu
dhaaraNam.

8.	gnaanam thE~ham savignaamidham vakshyaamyasEshatha: !
	yajgnaathvaa nEha BhooyO~nyajgnaavyamavasishyathE !!
7-2 of srimadh bhagavath geethaa - meaning- I will tell you oh
arjuna, all that to be known without any residual or balance the science
of knowledge. After knowing this nothing is there to be known by you.
Who can tell this except the one who knows every thing really. This
chapter itself is titled gnaana vignaana yOgam. That simply puts across
the charanam 5 of krithi- "agnaatha vasthu kim asthi vignaana ghanasya
thE" in proper light. Is it not again the reflection of geethaa line.

Dear bhakthaas, whether this is the greatness of the naaga pathnees doing
the sthuthi or naaraayaNa theerthaa's wizard or is it my krishna's glory.
Find yourself by reflecting it in your mind.

Now the next slokam in the krishna sthuthi in srimadh bhagavatham is
namO guNapradheepaaya guNaathmachchaadhanaaya cha!
guNavruthyupalakshyaaya guNadhrashtE svasamvidhE!!

The naamaas available are
Om guNapradheepaaya nama:
Om guNaathmachchaadhanaaya nama:
Om guNavruthyupalakshyaaya nama:
Om guNadhrashtE nama:
Om sva samvidhE nama:

Detailing on these naamaas will be taken up in next post.

Dhasan

Vasudevan m.g.
