SrI:
Dearest Srivaishnavas,
Kutti Kannan in the last decad, scared people with His poocchi kattudhal and
they all have gone; Now He is all alone and thus enjoyed to his heart
content and stomach's too, eating all butter, curd and milk.. Tired, he has
even dozed off. YasOdhA comes back and sees KaNNan sleeping. Oh No.. poor
darling child has not even drunk the breast milk and he has slept.
Kuzhandhaikku pasikkumE. (my child will feel hungry). Till next day
afternoon, he has not eaten anything and has been sleeping also off and on.
YasodhA calls him and asks him to drink breastmilk from her. AzhwAr enjoys
in this role of YasOdhA.

1. Oh Chief of cowherd folks! One who has AdhisEshan as the bed! Wake
up to drink the breast milk. One night has gone and even the noon has come
today. You have not drunk yet. Al O! (rumba varuttham..) How sad! - I feel
sad and worried as you have not drunk for more than a day. You are also not
coming on your own. The stomach moves (due to hunger) while you sleep. Due
to the milk being full in my breasts, they have sagged due to weight. Hence,
with your divine mouth, drink this abundant milk, kicking my stomach with
your strong feet (strengthened by drinking milk)

The AdhisEshan who is your bed; - it appears he is here also; that's why you
never appear to get up. That bed is so comfrtiable that the Lord never gets
up for eating or drinking. When you came from MathurA he appeared as
umbrella (senRaal kudaiyaam). I suppose he should be the bed now for you.

Ammum- the drinking milk -is addressed as ammam.. the child also tells
mummum (for food). Also when the baby drinks milk, it looks at ammA's face,
eyes and talks to her saying.. hmmmm.. hmmm with a smiling face.. Thus it is
called ammum.. It is my misfortune that your divinely beautiful mouth is not
joining my breasts. This mouth of yours can drink any amount of milk- Now
you are not all drinking. How sad!

2. [In this pAsuram, she forgives His vishamam- mischief] My most
merciful parama upakArakanE! After your appearance, the saved and stored
curd, fragrant ghee, sweet milk, - have not been found existing. [they all
have been stolen and eaten] Not just that. You are made to commit many other
mischief. I will never punish you. Do not get angry with me. With your
shining smile, look at me, sniff with your nose and drink the breast milk.

2.4.7- says: kaRandha naRpaalum thayirum kadainthu uRi mEl vaittha veNNai
piRandhadhuvE mudhalaagaap peRRaRiyEn EmpiraanE.. That is referred here.
Right from your birth, I have not seen the milk, curd, butter etc..

When a child drinks milk at a stretch (due to its hunger), it makes a
sniffing sound (mookkuRinjidhal) when it breathes as both drinking and
breathing do not happen simultaneously. Hence AzhwAr says: mookuRinji mulai
uNNAyE.. Also, the child looks at its mother and smiles, talks while
drinking.. [That's why breast fed children are quite attached to the
mothers- study also reveals.]

3. Mothers when hearing their boys' complaints and cries, they come to
us along with their boys, and quarrel with me alleging your mischief.
Because of that, you have turned victorious, Oh Vaasudevaa! and thus live
successful against those allegations. Not that your fathers are also unaware
of your mischief. He also does know. I am also not capable of scolding you.
Oh Nandha gOpa's darling boy! Drink this milk that come out with great love
for you!

Those mothers due to their blind love for their children come to fight
against us with complaint about you. Due to my love for you, I do not
believe their words and can not scold you also. Why do you like that such
mischief on those boys! Is it for training for future endeavors with your
enemies? Like your father Vasudevar, this father NandhagOpar also does not
admonish you. My heart is also tender and is in great love with you. I can
not scold you. Hence, smile and drink milk lovingly. [Note YasOdhA says:
unthaiyaar- Your fathers- both of them Vasudevar and Nandhaar- both are
aware of Your kuRumbu- mischief]

4. Oh Chief of Nithyasooris! You came hiding in this place (for Kamsan
to get trapped and get killed)! And hence, the wheel asuran (sent by Kamsa
in order to kill You) was destroyed by You with Your feet kicking the same.
I was very much scared that your feet would have been greatly hurt by that.
That apprehension and fear was bigger than that of all the cowherd folks
added up. How sad! Come and drink milk.

5. VasudEva's son! The cunning, cruel Kamsa, seeing you lying down like
this and sleeping, should not feel that you are weak and attempt to take you
deceitedly. I can not stand and live when and if that happens. When mothers
say something, the boys should listen and heed to that. It is their duty. Oh
most benevolent Lord! I am now telling [in front of all]. Do not go out
anywhere. Sit and drink milk.

Thus, when she called for drinking milk, he starts to go out. She calls him
loud; the cowherd folks have also assembled hearing her shout. KaNNA! Of
light of cowherd folks! Look ate everyone who has come here. Vasudevar hid
you here fearing Kamsa's cruelty. Do not go away. I can not stand of
something happens to you. Not just Rama avatar. In this also, you need to
listen to parents. You heeded to Devaki's request the moment you appeared.
[hiding your four hands and Sanghu, ChakrA]. I am also a mother dear. Devaki
said it when none was there. You listened to her. Now all these people are
here. I am telling you. Listen. Else, they will say you do not listen to
parents. You need to live for us

6. [She called in ayarpaadi and asked him not to go away. AzhWar now
sees Him at SrivilliputthUr and says: Now having come here from ayar paadi,
do not go away. Drink]. Lord of SrivilliputthUr [where the lightning like
thin waisted beautiful womenfolk reside on whose head, the beetles drink
honey from their fragrant dark tresses] Looking at You here, everyone says
(about me) "how blessed and fortunate and what penance did she do to get
such a womb to house Him!" - Oh HrishIkEsaa! Drink my milk. The womenfolk of
Ayarpaadi can also be considered in the above pAsuram.

7. [Having started to go out, he now sits. Immediately YasOdhA asks him
to drink immediately without delay.] GovindhA! Those who see you,- those
married women living with their husbands, with a desire to get a son like
You, look at you order to retain you fully in their minds, seeing your every
part of Your divine Body, and unable to move away from You. Young girls
(small girls) with a desire to drink the sweet nectar from your mouth, stand
here looking into your eyes [with an intention to lift you and carry you on
their hips]. Hence, come fast and drink milk.

8. Oh Lord! The one who sent the two wrestlers to death! With Your most
beautiful divine chest (shedding its luster on me), come and climb on my
lap. Take one of my breasts in your hands and put in your mouth and with the
other hand, fondle the other breast; do not stop drinking and say it is
enough. [Continue to drink forever]. Shift from one to the other and keep
drinking.

Sri Thiruvaaymozhi Pillai says: the two are Madhu and Kaithabhar (killed by
Hayagreevan); while Sri ManavalamaamunigaL interprets and enjoys the killing
of the two wrestlers with Kamsa (ChaaNorran and Mushrikan). Yeri seydhhay-
burnt them; crushed them or destroyed them. Mustikan was actually killed by
Balarama. But he is also the Lord's amsa and can be considered says SrI
UttamUr Swamy. Also, the ones killed by KaNNan alone: ChaaNooran and
thOsalan can be referred. (in VishNu purAnam and GithA bhAshya beginning as
well, this thOsalan are referred to), Also in the big hall (iruvarangam-
iruvar + angam OR iru arangam- Srirangam- where the Lord resides and
conquers all; Koodaarai vellum seer Govindhaa! Hence Govindhaa is addressed
here.

Also, when one breast is used for drinking, the child fondles the other
thereby the milk fills in the other too.

9. Like the most beautiful pearls found in the red lotus flower, on
your red lotus face, the sweat and dust particles stay with your mischief
and playful deeds on the streets with dirt all over your body. Do not do
that dear. Oh Deva dEva (lord of devas) You distributed the sweet nectar to
them in that day! Come and drink.

Here playful deed included this churning of milky ocean also. The way He
performed the whole operation so effortlessly, taking tortoise avatar and
also holding the mountain, and also helping the devas to churn; taking
mOhini avatar to deceive the asurAs, with such mischief. Since he
distributed to Devas, he is Deva devaa. You gave that to everyone. Don't you
want the nectar. Come and drink. This is even better than that is the intent

10. [When KaNNan on another occasion comes running from afar and she
calls for drinking the breast milk]. Due to your energy and age, you come
running and when you run, the musical sound from your anklets, and this
should be my Padmanaabhan only- I get to know from that sound itself. And I
wish to call you for drinking my breast milk and enjoy seeing that.
PurushOtthamA! You should come walking (or running ) having such steps as if
it appears dancing, and naking sounds from your kiNkiNi, and without running
away, you should come to me and drink.
When you come running so beautiful, with musical sounds from ornaments, I
should not just simply enjoy seeing Your running towards me and not forget
feeding you. You will run away. Hence do not run away. Come and drink.

11. YasOdhA (who wears the kacchai - kind of blouse on her breasts),
calls Madhavaa and asks Him to drink her milk. About this, these pAsurams
have been sung by Bhattanaathan of Sri VilliputthUr (most famous place
filled by most fragrant flowers of karuneydhal). Those who recite these
pAsurams will be blessed to have the mind that goes and resides on the Lord
Sriya: Pathi Sriman Narayanan, the red lotus eyed Lord; who has the most
auspicious attributes (Samastha kalyANa guNa paripoorNan).

Due to her breastmilk, the breasts have become bigger and she has tied them
with kacchai. [The royal workmen and others hide the stuff that is very much
liked by the king. Thus, YasOdhA also has hidden the breastmilk for Kutti
KaNNan. - says Sri UttamUr Swamy]
