Dear Members,

Swami Desikan (1268 - 1369 CE) spent a long time in Satyakalam near
Kollegal close to Mysore. There, Swami Desikan sought refugee from
the Moslem invaders of Srirangam. Swami Desikan composed Abheeti
Stavam for removal of fear and quick restoration of Srirangam.

Swami Desikan's Abheeti Stavam encouraged Swami Vidyaranyar of
Shringeri Peetam, who in turn was the Raja-Guru of Harihara and
Bukka, the founders of the Vijayanagar Empire. Vijayanar, as it was,
the richest and the most powerful empire of it's times. Needless to
say, it was the richest and the powerful empire that Indian history
has ever seen.

There is a small Varadarajar Temple in Satyakalam today. Plans are
underway to revive daily worship under the blessings of HH Sri
Rangapriya Mahadesikan.

Sri K R Krishnaswami of Bangalore, India is at the forefront of this
noble task. I will post more information as and when I receive the
same.

Devotees in and around Bangalore are encouraged to contact

Sri K R Krishnaswami at (80)-6767528

I have a small request for those of you in the list who contact Sri
KR Krishnaswami. Please do let us know his email address and his
plans in detail so that devotees across the oceans have an
oppurtunity in participating in this once in a lifetime event, which
has immense historical significance.

Regards,

Malolan Cadambi
