Both Sanskrit and Tamil are essential for
spiritual expression for Sri Vaishnavas.
No one has demonstrated this better than
Swami Sri Desikan. Recently, during a
phone conversation, Sri Anand Karalpakkam
the grandson of illustrious Sri Uttamur
Swami, cited the penultimate paasuram of
Swami Sri Desikan's ParamapadhasObhAnam.
In this paasuram, Desikan recounts the
nine stages of the sObhanam to
paramapadham described in the earlier
verses of this prabhandham. At the ninth
stage of "praapthiparvam" Desikan says we
will sing the Vedhaas and PallaaNdu,
joining the gOshti of Nithyas and
Mukthaas. Thus, the sound of Sanskrit
vEdhaas and Tamil Prabhandham will be
reverberating Vaikuntam for ever.

The 20th verse of ParamapadhasObhAnam:

(Due to the benevolent grace of Acharya
the confusion about this world of samsara
is gone; despondent over the wasted time
we reject the temporal pleasure of
samSAra; fearing that there is no means
but Lord Sriman Narayana to prevent the
coming hell, we surrender unto His Lotus
feet with bhakthi yOga or prapatthi;
then, leaving the body which is verily a
dreadful prison, we reach the other side
of the ocean of Samsara via the
archirAdhi route; beholding all the
wonders of paramapadham, we join the
group of nithyas and mukthaas, and sing
the vedhAs; and with divine celestial
music that transcends this world we will
sing ThiruppallANdu for years and years.)
