Thiru maal irum sOlai - part 11 - azhagar tharum "aadai"
thiruk kuRippu
(the holy clues provided by Lord azhagar through HIS
dress for the festival)
There are other important aspects one must also note. It
is said in the earlier part that the people in the
neighborhood villages worship *towards the direction* of
the malai in belief that this (the azhagar hills) is
Lord Vishnu itself. Many people also come out to see
the Lord in person during this festival. The Lord don't
disappoint them it seems and brings some gifts (varam or
boon) for them it seems. Most of the people will jump
to see closely Lord azhagar atleast once as they close
the gap and move closer to HIM. They see the "color" of
the dress lord Azhagar is wearing for this thiru vizhaa,
during that year's festival every year. The dress Lord
azhagar is wearing and the "produce" or "thaaniyam" that is to be
harvested are connected with each other. ie. All these
people and all farmers from around believe that lord
Azhagar blesses a bumper harvest for that particular
crop that year and that HE signals it through the color
of HIS dress. This have *never* failed. And so are the
belief of these people on Lord azhagar to deliver this
clue every year. This faith has no comparison. This
festival takes place for 9 days. This festival is known
as "madurai thiruvizhaa". This is the biggest and
holiest festival for the entire madurai district and
neighborhood.
