Re: Gayatri Mantra

Dear Bhagavata UttamAs:

Eventhough I have vaguely resolved the answer to the following question, I
would seek the opinion of fellow members of our group to throw some light on
the following:

The devata of Gayatri mantra, we understand is "SavitA" (the creator or the
Sun). This is in the mantrA itself. Lord Vishnu being one of the 12
adityAs we can take the mantrA to address Lord Vishnu (DhyEyas sadA savitru
mandala.... etc.,). Now this is the question: What is the relation of this
mantrA to Gayatri dEvi (who is portrayed as vEda mAtA etc.,). All we know
is the chandas for this mantrA is Gayatri.

I am particlularly interested in our moderator's response (as a participant)
as he has written wonderful articles on the sandhyavandanam!!!

Thanks.
