Sri:

Dear Sri Srinath,

It is true that PeriyAzhwAr was titlked "PeriyAzhwAr due to his "pongum
parivu" on PerumAL singing pallaandu.

However, there re anubhavams, like since he became the Father in law of the
enthai enthai thanthai tham mootthappan Himself, he may be called
PeriyAzhwAr.

Your statement also could be considered.

There is also another version that (Sri AnanthapadmanabhadAsan, Sri Puruisai
Krishnamachariar's student wrote in his magazine) (refer to
http://garuda.homepage.com/ created by Sri Achutharaman) PeriyAzhwAr, the
moment he saw PerumAL asked for pallaandu for his association with
Emperumaan (adiyOmOdum ninnOdum..) and then only sang for PiraaTTi; While
NammAzhwAr sang only in the last 10.10. Thiruvaaymzohi.. ThiruvaaNai
ninaaNai kaNdaay..) and pEyAzhwAr singing ThirukkaNdEn pon mEni kaNdEn, but
did not ask for Emperumaan's stay with him for ever. Since PeriyAzhwAr did
not lose the opportunity and grabbed Emperumaan to stay with Him for
pallANdu; he is really a PeriyAzhwAr".

Just another anubhavam.. Not for aguments' sake with the other points..

Regards

Narayana Narayana
