Dear BhakthAs:

Dr. P.V.SatakOpa TaatAchAr is a member of the Thuppul
Trust created for performing uninterrupted AarAdhanams for
the Dhivya Desa EmperumAn of ThiruthtaNkA (Dheepa PrakAsan)
and Swamy Desikan at Thuppul , his birth place.

Dr.P.V.S. TataachAr swamy is a Sanskrit scholar and
Nyayaa expert besides completing vedAdhyayanam .
He comes from an illustrious family of Sri VaishNavite
Scholars and has perfromed kaalkshEpams in Grantha
Chaathushtyam as well .

Dr. P.V.S. TaatAchAr swamy had written to me recently and
requested help form aasthikAs for creation of core funds of
5 Laks Rupees to conduct the above aarAdhanams without
interruption from here on . He seems to have assembled
2 laks of Rupees sofar and has the need for additional
3 Laks of Rupees ( $6,250) to fulfil, this noble task.

adiyEn is delighted to invite the attention of
fellow BhakthAs and to request them to participate
in this kaimakaryam through their gernerous support .
adiyEn pledges 100$ as my first round of contributions
in the name of asmath AchAryan, Srimath Azhagiya Singar.

adiyEn also pedges to write about the noble Sri Sookthi
of SaraNAgathi Dheepikai of Swamy Desikan as a a series
of postings .There are 59 slOkams in this Sri Sookthi.
Although Swamy Desikan has blessed us with many
Sri Sookthis on SaraNAgathy doctrines and the practise
of SaranAgathy , this particular Sri Sookthi has
a unique flavor.

Swamy Desikan peads for MokshAnugraham here and begs
the Lord of ThirutthaNkA to banish the darkness of
nescience (ajn~Anam). Swamy Desikan points out that
this Sri Sookthi took birth as the distillation of
the essence of the Sri VaishNavite SampradhAyam
that originated from MadaippaLLI AacchAn ( PraNathArthiharar),
in his achArya lineage ; MadapaLLI AacchAn served as
the antharanga Kaimkarya Parar at the sacred feet of
AchArya RaamAnujA and recieved the sarvArthams from
EmperumAnAr directly.

Swamy Desikan covers the glories of Prapathti ,
its 5 limbs (angams) , post-prapatthi conduct
of a PrapannA , Two kinds of AarAdhanam of
the Lord , Bhagavatha kaimkaryam , the release of
the Jeevan through Brahma randhram , the journey
via archirAdhi maargam to Sri Vaikuntam and
the enjoyemnt of ParipoorNa BrahmAnandham
at Sri Vaikuntam . Swamy stresses that SaraNAgathi
is the best upAyam to attain Moksha Siddhi in
this Sri Sookthi.

On this Kaarthikai Kruthtikai PourNami day ,
adiyEn requests intersted aasthikAs with folded hands
to come forward and join in this noble kaimkaryam
to facilitate uninterrupted aarAdhanams at Sri Maragatha Valli
ThAyAr SamEtha Sri Dheepa PrakAsan and Swamy Desikan
at Thuppul agrahAram (ThirutthaNkA Sannidhi Street).

It is indeed a rare opprtunity to join in
the AarAdhanams for the dhivya Dampahtis and
this great AchAryan at the same time .

The amount needed is $6,000 . A donation of
50 to 100$ or more by interested aasthikAs
will help in the conductance of uninterrupted
AarAdhanams at Thuppul/ThirutthaNkA .

Please let me know of your intersts in
particpating in this kaimakryam.I will
look into Tax deduction issues for monies
sent from here. Residents of India are
eligible for Indian tax deductions thru direct
transmittals to the Trust .

The description of the goals of the Non-profit Trust
created to take care of this kaimkaryam is attached.

SrI:

Sri Vilakkoli Perumal, Thoopul Vedantha Desikar Charitable Trust was set up
on 23-9-1993 with the express desire to provide for the daily poojas, at the
sannidhis of DeepaPrakasha and Thoopul Desika. Thanks to some noble devotees
the trust was able to collect a corpus fund of Rs.2 Lakhs, which would
provide for enough oil, flowers, sandal and rice - the bare minimum required
for conducting poojas twice daily. Taking into account inflation, the
salaries for Bhattars, cooks and veda vidwans, it has been estimated that a
corpus fund of atleast Rs.5 Lakhs would be necessary for ensuring that daily
poojas are conducted comfortably for many years to come.

The Trust has taken on the onerous task of approaching philanthropists,
bringing to their notice the pitiable situation at Thoopul, collecting funds
and deploying them to restore to this place its pristine glory and
greatness. It has now chosen Internet as one of its media for appealing to
public.
The audited account details of the Trust are available and will shortly be
put on this Web site. For now, the workings of the basic requirement of
conducting daily poojas is being presented as follows :-

Expense Heading	Amount($/month)
Rice 90 kgs.	40
Curds 60 lts.	30
Flowers	10
Salaries to Bhattar/cook 4 nos.	50
Total	130

Average daily expense is around 4$. In order to ensure a day's pooja, a
corpus of 30$ will have to be maintained. This would fetch an interest of
around 4$ which can be used for daily poojas.
Besides providing for the bare minimum that is daily poojas as per Agama
shastra, the Trust has big plans viz.

1. Arranging for daily Parayana - recital- of Desika's works at His
Sannidhi, by vidwans
2. Arranging for Vidwat sadas during the Desika Utsavam
3. Renovation of temple complex
4. To improve the standard of living of the priests of Vilakkoli and
Deshikar temples
5. To supplement the expenses incurred in connection with the monthly
Shravanam festival
6. To conduct vidwat sadas annually by inviting scholars and also to conduct
discussion on Swamy Deshika's works

The Trustees request all to appreciate the spirit in which the appeal is
made to them and extend all possible financial support to the trust to
preserve the cultural heritage of the country.
