Respected Srimathi Devika Varadarajan

I read your posting and thought I'd shed my thoughts on that.

Isnt Bhakti-margam is the simplest and the most sure-shot way to
attain to God ? One need not know scriptures or have mastery over
shastras or be even too intellectual, or inquisitive.

The most important requirement is faith, "Dhruda-Vishwaasam" and
total surrender("Saranagathi"). Of what use is the knowledge of all
the things, if it makes one egoistic or have opinions other than
God's will. More than everything else, the goal should be very clear.
Aspiring to see God and be with him.

In the story of Dhruva, he's a boy of 5yrs old, he knows nothing
about how to medidate, he does not even know where the forest is or
what to do. All he wanted was to see God.

Owing to his deep-interest and his determination, God sends the Guru
in the form of Narada who instructs him. He tells him where to
medidate (madhu-vanam), gives him the mantram (dwaadhashakshari) and
tells him about the attributes of the lord and asks him to medidate.

It is to be noted that the Guru also clears both open and hidden
obstacles. For example, Narada proceeds to Uttanapadha (Dhruva's
father & King)who actually was intending to send some messengers to
trace the young boy who's gone to the forest. He tells Uttanapadha
not to disturb the boy and tells him that Dhruva will be successfull
and return only after seeking Lord's darsanam.

Again if you take the case of many munis and rishis in the forest
whose penances are disturbed by damsels, it did not happen with
Dhruva. While the former tried to medidate with their "self-wisdom
and determination", Dhruva was doing penance with his Guru's grace.

So its enough if one's belief, faith and surrender is true. God will
automatically do the rest.

A simple story is of 2 types of children. When the mother is getting
ready to go to the market, one child is aware of this and gets
dressed up, packs her bag etc. The other knows nothing, but just
clings on to the saree of her mother and keeps crying.

With the knowledge of where the mother is going and dressing up etc.,
the first child expects that she would be able to get what is needed.
But the second child knows nothing but always clings on. There is a
high possibility that the mother would take the 2nd one along. That
is the margam of Bhakti.

Radhe Krishna
